Getting your book looked at by dragons in the publishing industry is a monumental task. So, to give a little insight into my yet-to-be-published book, I thought I would share some questions I was recently asked by a literary agent about The Shattered Queen and my responses.
Q1. What is your book’s genre?
A: Intended Genre is Adult Fantasy but one of my beta readers called it a Romantasy.

Q2. Is the manuscript complete? If completed, how many words is your manuscript?
A: The manuscript for The Shattered Queen is completed and it’s 96,000 words.
Q3. Have other people read the book, and if so, did they enjoy it?
A: Yes, the book has been through three rounds of beta reading – six total beta readers. Beta readers were enthusiastic from the first round of beta reading and only got more so with each round. My last beta reader was begging for a sequel.

Q4. Does the book have or need photographs or images like maps, charts, or graphs?
A: Yes, I created a map of the continent where my story takes place. I’m not a cartographer though, so it most definitely needs some adjustments and overall sprucing up.
Q5. Do you believe your book would have mass appeal and the potential to sell a large number of copies?
A: I do believe The Shattered Queen would have mass appeal. It’s a great story with traditional values, featuring strong women and masculine men. This book/series fills a gap in what is currently available through most traditional publishers. There is a large audience for Tolkienesque-style fantasy—adventure, magic, and mythical creatures, not lectures on climate change and non-binary cacti like in the last book I read.
Q6. Have you ever had a book published before?
A: No. I’m totally flying by the seat of my pants here as I take on this terrifying dragon of a journey into a world of literary agents and book publishing.
