I write books, I blog but where does my inspiration come from? All over the place.
Oftentimes, inspiration comes from music. I have specific songs for some of my characters that automatically transport me into their headspace. For my FMC, Saoirse, that song is Demons by Imagine Dragons. The song for her brother, Riordan, is One Call Away by Charlie Puth. For Meg & Rowan, the song is Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

Book 2, The Prince of Hearts, has a distinct playlist for the book, rather than one for each character, but I’m not willing to share it because it would give too much away about what happens in that book.
Later in the summer, I will share the first chapter of The Shattered Queen with you, so stay tuned, but for now, back to Inspiration. Below are images from my home office.
For visual inspiration, I keep a few items in my office to keep me motivated.
One of my beta readers gave me this dragon book stand that gives the illusion of the dragon shooting blue flames into my books.

Writing can be daunting, and impostor syndrome likes to rear its ugly head with startling frequency, so I keep this reminder in my office where I can see it at all times.
Do you write? Where does your inspiration come from? Let me know in the comments below.
Thanks to my readers for trekking along this dusty forest road with me. Emerging into the warmth of summer, a hiatus calls. My creative battery is dimming, and a break is in order. I’ll be back in July with updates on my querying and revision process and other bookish topics.
